Tom Miebach, LCSW, CCTP
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Certified Clinical Trauma Professional
EMDR Therapist
The human experience is difficult for all of us and can leave us with deep wounds. The reassuring truth is that wounds can heal.
In my practice of trauma-focused psychotherapy, I guide my clients toward reclaiming a sense of empowerment, placing them in the driver's seat of their own lives. Embracing each person's unique journey, I offer a safe space for deep listening while employing an eclectic blend of therapeutic approaches. Throughout our collaborative process, my clients learn to find freedom from destructive cycles of behavior and develop a foundational sense of self that they can trust, value, and like.
Psychotherapy isn't just my profession; it's my heartfelt passion. My experience includes 15 years of providing a variety of mental health services to the Champaign-Urbana community. I have a background in crisis intervention that includes working in community mental health, emergency room, and inpatient hospital settings. I spent six years at the University of Illinois Counseling Center, where I provided a variety of clinical services to diverse groups of students, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention outreach.
In addition to the realm of therapy, I enjoy writing music, playing instruments, spending time in nature, cooking and reading.
